Health Care Assistant – Ward 10A
Overview
Ward 10A is a 25‑bedded frailty ward caring for elderly patients. We are looking for a caring and compassionate assistant to join our multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver personal care to patients, maintaining privacy and dignity.
* Assist with patient rehabilitation and support activities of daily living (mouth care, hygiene, toileting).
* Comply with all safety and infection control procedures, including safe handling of patient equipment.
* Communicate compassionately with patients, families, and team members while maintaining confidentiality.
* Support patient feeding, diet, nutritional and fluid intake monitoring, and report changes to nursing staff.
* Manage patient belongings in line with Trust policy and maintain a safe, clean working environment.
* Assist with supply monitoring and ordering and oversee waste disposal as directed.
* Participate in handovers, debriefs and delegated procedures under supervision of registered healthcare professionals.
* Promote and maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience or interest in health‑care or caring for elderly patients.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work safely in a fast‑paced ward environment.
* Competence to act within the scope of training and seek support when unsure.
