Job Summary
We provide acute care across a range of clinical specialties including oncology, haematology, respiratory, diabetes, endocrine, neurology and day surgery. We also provide a children's community nursing team. Our facilities include the 9-bed Children’s and Young People’s Assessment Unit (CYPAU) at Queen’s Hospital, Dahlia Ward at King George Hospital, and other child health services in the Trust. The post holder will act as a role model, provide leadership in the clinical area and oversee assessment of care needs of children and young people, planning, implementing and evaluating care programs with limited direct supervision. The post holder will supervise and educate staff in collaboration with the Children’s Clinical Nurse Educator, demonstrate advanced clinical skills and take charge on shift as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* Act as a role model and provide leadership in the clinical area.
* Oversee assessment of care needs of children and young people, plan and evaluate care programs.
* Demonstrate advanced clinical specialist skills to provide high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care while supervising others.
* Take charge on each shift and supervise/co-ordinate other staff; support professional development of self and others.

* Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per annum (Agenda for Change)
* Contract: Fixed term, 12 months

Person Specification – Essential
* Education/Qualifications: RSCN or RN (Child Branch); Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
* Experience/Knowledge: Experienced Senior Band 5 Nurse with experience taking charge on shift
* Skills/Abilities: Able to work well under pressure with a calm, resilient approach; safeguarding children, recognizing concerns and escalating appropriately
Desirable
* Leadership/Quality Improvement; evidence of professional development
Registration and Compliance
* UK Registration: Current professional registration with the UK
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS): Post subject to DBS check
* Certificate of Sponsorship: Applications from those requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship will be considered
