Synechron is looking for a senior PMO specialist with x8-10 years of experience in financial services to join a leading financial institution's Technology and Data division in Glasgow. This pivotal role involves establishing and maintaining robust project governance, supporting cross‑functional teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of strategic technology and data initiatives. You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to drive project excellence, provide expert guidance on best PMO practices, and enhance overall project delivery standards.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic guidance and support to project managers and teams across various technology and data initiatives
* Establish and maintain project governance processes, including project prioritisation, risk management, and quality assurance
* Monitor project progress, track KPIs, and report on program health to senior leadership, highlighting risks and recommending mitigation strategies
* Facilitate resource planning, capacity management, and financial tracking to optimise project delivery
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO to enhance efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness
* Support change management activities, ensuring stakeholders are engaged and informed throughout project lifecycles
* Coordinate and support the adoption of tools, templates, and best practices to standardise project delivery
* Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies relating to project management
Experience
* 8-10 years experience in a PMO role within the financial services or a highly regulated industry
* Strong background in managing, supporting, and governing large‑scale Technology and Data projects
* Proven expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, SAFe) and governance frameworks
* Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
* Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, Power BI) and reporting dashboards
* Solid understanding of data management, IT infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Cloud platforms, and digital transformation initiatives
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a focus on delivering measurable improvements
* Demonstrated leadership in fostering collaboration and driving high‑performance teams
* Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, MSP, Agile/Scrum certifications) are highly desirable
Long term contract (inside IR35) or FTE - Strong market rates - Glasgow office x3 days a week
