We are seeking a proactive and reliable Warehouse Operative - Goods In, to join our dedicated team, at our Sheffield operations hub. In this pivotal role, you'll work primarily in the yard area, with a key focus on managing the processing of returned goods and ensuring they are cleaned and prepared for re-use or dispatch.
As a key member of the warehouse team you'll ensure high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Receive, inspect and record incoming goods against delivery documentation for accuracy, quality and tracking.
* Assess, sort and report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to the Warehouse Team Leader
* Log all received items into the inventory management system promptly
* Clean returned goods and equipment using appropriate tools and cleaning agents
* Store goods in designated locations (yard or warehouse), areas ensuring proper handling and security
* Operate forklifts or other yard machinery (if certified), ensuring safe handling of materials
* Maintain a clean and organised goods-in area, adhering to health and safety regulations
* Collaborate with other warehouse operatives to support overall warehouse operations
* Carry out other warehouse duties as required to ensure efficiency and productivity
* Liaise with internal teams such as Quality Control, Repairs, and Inventory to coordinate the flow of goods
* Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and company policies
* Identify and report any safety or maintenance issues in the yard or equipment
* Support general yard duties, including loading/unloading vehicles and assisting with deliveries as required
Requirements
* Prior experience in a goods-in or warehouse role. (E)
* Forklift truck certification is beneficial, but training can be provided. (D)
* Strong attention to detail and meticulous organisational skills. (E)
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. (E)
* Good communication skills. (E)
* A basic understanding of inventory management systems is an advantage. (D)
* Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy items as necessary. (E)
* Knowledge of health and safety standards in warehouse operations. (E)
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. (D)
