Senior Occupational Therapist (Urgent and Emergency Care Team)
Sherwood Forest Hospitals are looking to recruit a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Urgent and Emergency Care Therapy Team. The team work in a fast paced environment, preventing admissions to the hospital, supporting with complex discharges and working within the Frailty Intervention Team. The team covers the Emergency Department, Emergency Assessment Unit and the Short Stay Ward. Within your role you will support Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, be a student educator, complete supervision with the Band 5 OTs and help with the day to day running of the team. You will be encouraged to work on service development projects as we strive to continually improve the team for the patients, the service we provide and for the team. The team covers a seven day service, working between 8-7. There is an expectation that everyone will work a weekend a month and their fair share of the bank holidays throughout the year. Person Specification
Knowledge Requirements
* Sound Clinical knowledge of medical conditions and applied occupational therapy techniques
* Ability to prioritise & work under pressure
* Ability to work as a team member as well as alone but with access to more senior colleague
* Knowledge of NHS procedures, policies and guidelines
* Ability to formulate and develop specialised individual treatment programmes and ability in using clinical reasoning skills
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) or Graduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
* Registration with HCPC
* Membership of the College of Occupational Therapists
Further Training
* Attendance at relevant clinical post graduate courses taught often at modular Masters level
* APPLE Accreditation training
Experience
* Completion of postgraduate junior rotation to include a rotation in medicine
* Broad understanding of occupational therapy process and frameworks.
* Experience of audit and service review
* Experience of supervising other staff and/or students
* NHS experience including knowledge of policies and procedures
* Evidence of contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff, assistants and students
Contractual Requirements
* Flexible working, including 7 day working which will include late shifts
* Ability to drive
