About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a visually impaired child aged 5+, supporting their educational journey within a vibrant and inclusive school environment. You will play a pivotal role in enabling access to learning, adapting materials, and promoting independence, confidence, and curiosity.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored 1:1 support to a visually impaired child, both in and outside the classroom
* Modify and adapt resources to ensure accessibility across the curriculum
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external specialists to deliver individualised learning plans
* Support mobility and orientation as needed, encouraging safe and confident movement throughout the school
* Foster emotional wellbeing, communication, and self-esteem in a nurturing and structured way
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience supporting children with visual impairments, particularly aged 5 and above
* Strong knowledge of strategies and resources for children with VI needs (e.g., braille, large print, tactile materials, assistive tech)
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to learning support
* Experience working within a school or early years setting
* Relevant qualifications in supporting children with SEN (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
