We are seeking an experienced multi-site nursery leader who has already overseen 3–5 nursery settings and supported multiple managers to deliver strong operational and Ofsted outcomes. This is a key leadership role within our organisation. Reporting to the Head of Operations and working closely with the Head of Quality, you will play a vital part in ensuring every nursery delivers exceptional care, outstanding education, and strong operational performance. This role will play a key part in shaping the next stage of growth for Muddy Boots as we expand across Yorkshire, supporting nursery managers to deliver outstanding care, strong occupancy, and exceptional team cultures. Key Responsibilities As Area Manager, you will: Lead with Heart Put children, families and colleagues at the centre of every decision Build strong, trusting relationships with Nursery Managers and teams Create a culture where people feel valued, supported and empowered Drive Excellence Ensure the highest standards of teaching and education, childcare, compliance and safeguarding Work alongside the Head of Quality to embed best practice across all settings Monitor KPIs, performance and financial outcomes to achieve exceptional results Support nurseries to be inspection-ready and consistently deliver outstanding provision Champion Growth Coach and develop Nursery Managers to reach their full potential Support succession planning and talent development across your area Encourage continuous improvement and innovation within each setting Strengthen Teamwork Foster collaboration between nurseries, encouraging shared learning and support Work closely with senior leaders to align operational and quality priorities Promote a respectful, positive and solution-focused culture Take Responsibility Take ownership of performance across your area Act with integrity and accountability in all operational decisions Ensure robust compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements Skills, Knowledge and Expertise The ideal candidate will be an experienced early years leader with a strong track record of multi-site or senior nursery management, combining commercial awareness with genuine passion for delivering outstanding childcare. You will bring: Proven experience overseeing multiple nursery settings (minimum 3) Experience line-managing Nursery Managers Experience delivering occupancy, financial and quality performance across multiple sites Confidence in coaching and developing leaders A proactive, accountable and solution-focused approach A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the York and surrounding area A relevant early year’s qualification (Level 3 minimum; Level 5 preferred) is desirable.
