Aurora Coalville School is opening its doors in late 2026, and will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 88 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.
We are currently seeking a dedicated SENCO to lead and champion our provision for students with complex and special educational needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a specialist ASD/SEMH setting, working closely with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure every student reaches their full potential.
The Role
As SENCo, you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality, inclusive education across the school. You'll lead the Annual Review process, support staff development, and ensure that our SEN provision meets the highest standards.
You'll be responsible for:
Promoting an inclusive approach to SEN across the school
Liaising with EHCP Coordinators and external professionals
Supporting teaching staff with specialist training and strategies
Monitoring and evaluating SEN teaching and learning
Leading on assessment, data tracking, and reporting
Providing CPD and INSET on SEN best practice
Contributing to strategic planning and school improvement
Skills & Qualifications
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and PGCE or equivalent
SENCO qualification (or willingness to complete within 3 years)
Experience working with pupils with SEN, ideally in a specialist setting
Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
A collaborative, creative, and child-centred approach

Hold specific allocated responsibility, once you have completed your induction, that contributes to whole school improvement including the overall raising of standards in the school and demonstrate their ongoing commitment to their own CPD.
Details of the relevant area of responsibility will be discussed with you at interview and further when you join the company.
