Personal Assistants Required (2:1 Support) Location: Cwmaman, Aberdare About Me I am an energetic and lively 8-year-old girl living in the Aberdare area with my family.
I have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and 15q
11.2 microdeletion (a rare genetic condition). I also have Pica, a learning disability, and significant delays in communication and social skills.
I am non-verbal and doubly incontinent.
At times, I can become frustrated and may present with behaviours such as head banging.
I have no awareness of danger and require constant supervision to ensure my safety and emotional regulation.
I love being outdoors and enjoy people-watching.
Some of my favourite places include the turbine farm and Aberdare Country Park.
I can feel anxious when visiting new places, but I would really benefit from spending time in the community away from my family, enjoying activities that I love.
Purpose of the Role
To support me in accessing the community safely while helping to build my confidence, independence, and enjoyment of activities outside the family home.
Rate of Pay
£15.50 per hour. Mileage will be reimbursed for the PA who drives.
Hours
* 6 hours per week (term time)
* 12 hours per week (school holidays)
* Weekend working required
* 2:1 support
Main Duties
* Providing safe and attentive 2:1 support in the community
* Taking me for walks and outdoor activities
* Supporting visits to places I enjoy, such as:
o Aberdare Country Park
o Turbine Farm
o ALN cinema sessions
o Trampolining
* Supporting me while shopping to help increase confidence
* Ensuring my safety at all times
* Supporting with personal care as required
Person Specification
* Calm, patient, and energetic
* Active and enjoy outdoor walks
* Experienced or knowledgeable in communication support (knowledge of Makaton desirable)
* Understanding of autism and behaviours that challenge
* Reliable and committed
Additional Requirements
* One Personal Assistant must be a driver with business-class insurance.
* One Personal Assistant must be female (due to personal care requirements).
Applicants Must
* Have a National Insurance number
* Be willing to complete a trial period
* Be paid monthly, including appropriate holiday pay
* Provide satisfactory references
* Complete a DBS (Police) check prior to starting (cost covered by the Local Authority)
* Have the legal right to work in the UK
