Role Overview:
Our client, a global leader in anti-submarine warfare (ASW) solutions, is looking for an experienced Electronics Test Engineer to work in a contract position on an ongoing project involving tests on manufactured products using predefined test procedures. Based at the client’s state-of-the-art facility in High Wycombe (postcode is HP10 9SD)
This is a shopfloor, production test role supporting operations in a high-reliability, regulated environment.
You’ll be responsible for setting up and running production tests on a variety of electronic and electromechanical products, following documented procedures, and completing test documentation. The work is project-based, with new systems and products coming through regularly — it’s not repetitive end-of-line testing.
Rate: £30 p/hour PAYE *role is INSIDE IR35*

What you’ll be doing:
Setting up test equipment and carrying out production testing in line with defined test procedures
Testing a range of electronic boards, interfaces, cables and multi-servo systems
Using some ATE / test interfaces as part of the production test environment
Fault-finding test failures and feeding back to Production and Manufacturing Engineering to support process improvements
Raising MRBs / defect reports where required
Supporting other members of the Test team and working to production deadlines
Maintaining and repairing test equipment where necessary
Core Duties:
Perform tests on manufactured products using predefined test procedures.
Collect and document test results accurately for analysis.
Identify failures and anomalies during testing and report findings to the Test Systems Engineer.
Conduct environmental, functional, and stress testing as required.
Set up and configure test equipment according to test specifications.
Perform routine calibration and maintenance on test systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with test setups before escalating to the Test Systems Engineer.
Run automated test scripts developed by the Test Systems Engineer.
Provide feedback on the effectiveness and reliability of automated test sequences.
Assist in debugging and refining automated test processes.
Identify potential issues in test processes and suggest improvements.
Work closely with manufacturing and quality teams to diagnose failures.
Escalate complex issues to the Test Systems Engineer for deeper analysis.
Follow established testing protocols and regulatory guidelines.
Ensure all testing activities are documented in compliance with industry and company standards.
Maintain accurate logs of test results, equipment usage, and issues encountered.
Work closely with production teams to ensure seamless testing within the manufacturing flow.
Assist in training production personnel on test procedures and equipment usage.
Provide real-time feedback to the Test Systems Engineer on test system performance.
Suggest improvements to test procedures based on hands-on experience.
Participate in test development discussions with the Test Systems Engineer.
Stay updated on new test methodologies and best practices in the industry.
Experience they’re looking for
Prior electronic test experience ESSENTIAL
Inspection standard accreditation such as IPC 610/620, J-Std etc would be highly beneficial
Hands-on electronics or electromechanical test experience
Experience working in a controlled / regulated environment such as aerospace, defence, medical or similar high-reliability industries
Comfortable following formal test procedures and completing documentation
Fault-finding skills across electronic assemblies and systems
RF exposure is beneficial but not essential
Candidates with electronics testing experience in regulated environments will stand out strongly
