About the Learning Support Assistant Role

Location: Maidenhead
Salary: £101.40 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:45pm (term time only)
Start Date: January 2026
Interviews and trial days will take place beforehand

We are seeking a compassionate and committed graduate to join a specialist school that supports children with high-support autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Global Development Delay (GDD).

This role is ideal for Psychology or Art graduates seeking hands-on therapeutic experience that will support applications for postgraduate study in Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or Art Therapy.

As an LSA, you will:

1. Support children with sensory regulation, communication, and personal care needs
2. Engage pupils through art, music, play, and sensory activities
3. Work closely with therapists to deliver structured interventions
4. Learn about the approaches used by Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, and Clinical Psychologists in specialist education
5. Foster a nurturing, consistent, and stimulating environment

Understanding Global Development Delay (GDD)

Global Development Delay refers to a significant delay in two or more areas of a child’s development—such as cognition, speech, or emotional and motor skills.
In this role, you’ll learn to recognise children’s unique sensory profiles and help them build essential life skills, communication abilities, and confidence.
