A well-regarded school in Telford is seeking to appoint a committed and resilient Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This position offers a valuable opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development and progress of students who experience barriers to learning. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting emotional regulation, and enabling students to access education more effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
* Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships that support engagement and trust
* Implement consistent and effective behaviour management strategies
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to ensure a structured and supportive learning environment
* Support the development of students’ emotional resilience, self-regulation, and social skills
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
* Have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting young people with SEMH needs
* Demonstrate confidence, patience, and professionalism when managing challenging behaviour
* Show a clear commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
* Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Have a sound understanding of behaviour management approaches
