POSITION SUMMARY:
The Housekeeping Director is responsible for overseeing the guest experience related to cleanliness and stateroom service, ensuring seamless delivery of premium service that is both exceptional and memorable. The role requires outstanding hospitality, communication, organizational skills, and effective decision-making. Attention to detail is crucial, as the Director is fully accountable for the quality of all guest experiences, maintenance, cleanliness of assigned areas, and team leadership.
HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:
* Five to seven years of housekeeping managerial experience in an upscale hotel, resort, or cruise line (shipboard experience preferred).
* Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or the international equivalent.
* Extensive knowledge of cleaning procedures, public health standards, proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, safety procedures, and equipment use.
* Knowledge of personalized service principles, needs assessment, quality standards, and guest satisfaction evaluation.
* Ability to work positively in a diverse team environment and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills for interacting with department heads, coworkers, and crew members.
* Financial aptitude for managing expenses and cost control.
* Experience in managing headcount and supporting business needs.
* Knowledge of talent assessment, quality standards, guest satisfaction, leadership, and coaching.
* Understanding of human resources policies and practices.
* Proficiency with computers and software such as Excel, Word, and other company-specific programs.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
* Ability to speak English clearly and cordially with guests.
* Ability to read and write English for understanding procedures and instructions.
* Additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German are preferred.
