Job Overview
Are you looking for a new role in a supportive and dynamic team or perhaps looking for your next challenge? Twilight and Overnight service is an extension of the day team, based at St Pancras Hospital, 4 St Pancras Way NW1 0PE. As a senior nurse within the service you will be responsible for providing skilled leadership to colleagues during the shift. This will include allocating workload and managing the caseload of the team, prioritising patients based on need, and ensuring a high standard of skilled nursing care is delivered. You will also provide supervision for staff, support their performance and development, and demonstrate expert clinical decision‑making. The shift runs between 20:00 and 08:00, and all hours worked attract enhanced payment.
Main Responsibilities
* Coordinate the shift ensuring all staff carry out evidence‑based nursing interventions.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for staff on duty and manage complex, challenging, and demanding clinical situations.
* Assess, prioritise and manage the active caseload, ensuring effective coordination and leadership.
* Teach and supervise nursing care, providing clinical guidance and support to the team.
* Provide managerial supervision, including yearly appraisal of staff.
* Maintain accurate records and manage staffing rotas to cover caseloads.
* Identify clinical risk and report incidents in accordance with clinical lead requirements.
* Ensure team members have current mandatory training records and uphold infection control policies.
Professional and Managerial Skills
* Maintain current NMC registration and adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct.
* Actively participate in training and development of team members.
* Provide and take part in clinical supervision.
* Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
* Undertake systematic caseload reviews and appraisal of staff.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* NMC Registered Adult Nurse
* Numeracy skills for safe administration of medicines
* Evidence of relevant continuous professional development
Desirable Criteria
* Practice assessor and supervisor training
* Expertise in specific skill areas and evidence of role advancement
* Line management and appraisal training
* HR skills training (e.g., recruitment, managing absence)
Experience
Essential Criteria
* Previous experience as a Band 5 nurse in the community setting
Knowledge
Essential Criteria
* Competent use of electronic and handwritten clinical records following CNwl policies
* Ability to discuss sensitive issues with patients in a supportive manner while challenging appropriately
* Strong clinical knowledge and the ability to manage team contributions
Community Experience is desirable but not essential.
