Offer description

We’re looking for a talented and forward-thinking ESR and People Analytics Lead to join the People & OD Directorate to drive the development, delivery, and evolution of our workforce systems and analytics capabilities.

This is a pivotal role in supporting the organisation’s long-term vision and People Strategy, through the provision of insightful, accurate, and strategic workforce information.

You’ll manage the ESR system and lead the implementation of the future NHS Workforce Solution. You’ll also help drive the automation and digitalisation of people processes across the employee lifecycle.

Working closely with the Head of People Services, you will manage a small analytics team, fostering a culture of collaboration, compassion, and continuous improvement. You’ll champion data-led decision-making and support the delivery of excellence across workforce planning, board reporting, and strategic workforce development.

As the ESR and People Analytics Lead, you will:

* Lead the operational management, security, development and strategic planning of our workforce systems – with a particular focus on the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) and its interfaces which will migrate to the NHS Future Workforce Solution system.

* Provide expert advice on the future vision and roadmap for ESR within DHCW, working closely with senior leaders.

* Partner with the Head of People Services and Head of Strategic Business Partnering to deliver data-driven people insights and analysis that inform workforce plans, board reports and wider organisational strategy.

* Coordinate the production of high-quality, insightful workforce data and reporting across the entire employee lifecycle, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and strategic relevance.

* Support the development and continual improvement of HR and OD systems to streamline processes and enable automation, analytics and improved performance organisation-wide.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone who shares our organisational values of collaboration, compassion, innovation, excellence, and inclusivity, and can bring them to life through their work.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform data into meaningful insights and recommendations.

* Good understanding of ESR and workforce systems

* Strong people analytics and reporting experience

* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

* A passion for using data to drive meaningful change

* A strategic mindset, with experience of contributing to long-term workforce planning and organisational decision-making.

* An interest in people data and the HR function, and how analytics can support better people outcomes

* Proficiency with Excel functions (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables), and using Power BI or similar data visualisation tools

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Interview date: 05/11/25
