JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Theatre / Stage Technical Manager who has a full understanding of the operation of technical tools, software, and requirements such as stage lighting, rigging, sound, and AV for various theatre productions, comedy shows, and live music events.
The theatre is currently closed for major improvements funded by the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, scheduled to reopen in Summer 2024.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Theatre / Stage Technical Manager to be in place when the theatre reopens, ensuring all technical requirements are met safely and professionally.
The successful candidate will have a track record of technical management in similar venues, be passionate, self-motivated, well-organized, and able to lead by example.

DUTIES
Your responsibilities include:
* Preparing and managing technical aspects of events and performances, ensuring safety and professionalism
* Liaising with visiting companies and attending pre-production meetings
* Providing technical support for various events such as pantomimes, concerts, club nights, conferences, festivals, comedy, and workshops
* Participating in all technical work necessary for productions
* Recruiting, leading, and developing the technical team, maintaining communication and scheduling
* Operating technical equipment including lighting, sound, rigging, and fly systems
* Managing storage and maintenance of technical equipment
* Organizing get-in and get-out, including striking equipment and setting up performance areas
* Implementing health and safety procedures to protect colleagues, patrons, and visitors
* Ensuring fire evacuation procedures are followed as per the Theatre Licence
* Conducting annual inspections and testing of equipment
* Preparing staging areas and creating risk assessments and method statements
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
* NVQ Level 2 in technical stage or equivalent qualification
* Comprehensive understanding of technical tools, software, and requirements for theatre and live entertainment productions
* Experience working in a theatre or entertainment environment in a technical capacity
* Skills in lighting, sound, and AV
* Knowledge of rigging, scenic construction, and facilities management
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Highly organized with good time management
* Creative, flexible, and able to work under pressure to deadlines
* Up-to-date knowledge of technical procedures and technology
* Proven experience managing and delivering mid-scale productions
* Ability to work independently and show initiative in problem-solving
