Job Description
The sourcing and supply manager, managing a small team, is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers by developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships and performance, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of goods and services. The goal is to optimize the supply chain, achieve cost savings, and improve quality.
The manager works closely with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and identify potential suppliers that meet quality and delivery requirements while maintaining competitive pricing.
Duties And Responsibilities
* Market research and supplier identification: Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers, assess capabilities, and evaluate pricing and quality standards.
* Category strategy development: Define sourcing strategies considering cost, quality, delivery time, and risk factors.
* Supplier evaluation and selection: Establish qualification criteria, conduct due diligence, and select suitable suppliers based on set criteria.
* Contract negotiation: Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms on price, payment, delivery, and quality.
* Supplier relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships, address issues, and collaborate on improvements.
* Cost analysis and optimization: Analyze spend data to find savings opportunities, implement strategies, and negotiate reductions.
* Risk management: Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure business continuity.
* Performance monitoring and reporting: Track supplier performance, identify improvement areas, and report to stakeholders.
* Cross-functional collaboration: Work with engineering, operations, and quality teams to align sourcing requirements.
The Individual
* Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
* Proven experience in procurement and sourcing roles, preferably within specific commodity categories.
* Experience in sectors such as industrial, automation, or oil & gas.
* Strong negotiation skills for contracts and pricing.
* Analytical skills for data analysis and identifying savings.
* Market knowledge of trends, supplier landscape, and industry dynamics.
* Project management skills to oversee projects from start to finish.
* Effective communication skills with stakeholders and suppliers.
* Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships.
* Procurement expertise, including understanding of processes, contracts, and compliance.
