Overview
Sheltered Housing Support Officer – fixed term until 30/06/2027.
Location: Citywide.
Salary: £27,257 - £29,850 (pro‑rated for part‑time). Hours: 36 per week.
The service promotes independent living through planned and unplanned person‑centred support to vulnerable adults with complex needs. It supports service users to safely remain living and be part of the community for as long as possible and works with appropriate agencies to prevent hospital admission and admission to long‑term care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide and co‑ordinate a range of multi‑agency support, information and advice services to vulnerable clients living predominantly in sheltered housing and promote their independence.
* Gather and record client personal details; keep accurate records of relevant contact with service users regarding support provided and update on a regular basis.
* Responsible for carrying out the initial assessment of client’s needs and preferences, identifying unmet needs and making referrals to other agencies or the Team Leader as required.
* Responsible for carrying out risk assessments and advising the Team Leader of any actions required; put in place appropriate measures to ensure health and safety of service users predominantly in sheltered housing and in communal areas.
* Regularly review clients’ support to ensure it is appropriate and effective and, as needed, discuss with the Line Manager.
* Respond to emergency events identified through inactivity monitoring and alarm systems, make on‑the‑spot decisions and provide appropriate response, including carrying out emergency personal care and first aid.
* Arrange or refer for social inclusion activities in partnership with key stakeholders.
* Demonstrate and test alarm systems, report and monitor faults.
* Comply with National Care Standards and SSSC regulations.
* Work core business hours Monday to Friday.
Requirements
* Valid UK driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes.
* Participation in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 scheme or an update check.
* Overseas Criminal Record Check if spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK within the last five years.
