An established SME operating within the transport and logistics sector is seeking a highly skilledpany Accountant to join their team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Your new role
As thepany Accountant, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of thepany’s financial operations. This is a standalone role reporting directly to senior management, requiring a hands-on approach and strongmercial awareness. Key responsibilities include:
1. Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
2. Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
3. Overseeing cash flow management and working capital
4. Managing payroll and statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, etc.)
5. Liaising with external auditors and ensuringpliance with accounting standards
6. Implementing and maintaining robust financial controls
7. Supporting strategic planning and providing financial insights to management
What you'll need to succeed
8. Part Qualified/ QBE or Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or equivalent experience
9. Proven experience in a similar role within an SME environment
10. Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of UK accounting standards
11. Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in accounting software and Excel
12. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
13. Strongmunication and interpersonal skills
