About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our client’s team on a maternity cover contract starting as soon as possible in central Bristol. This role is pivotal within the company's UK payroll operations, providing essential support during a period of transition. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. You will act as the primary point of contact for payroll‑related queries, collaborate closely with the People and Finance teams, and oversee payroll‑linked benefits and pensions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in UK payroll to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic, scaling organization.


Qualifications

* Proven experience managing monthly UK payroll processes
* Strong understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and salary sacrifice schemes
* Experience handling pension uploads, reconciliations, and payroll‑linked benefits administration
* Exceptional attention to detail and high numerical accuracy
* Excellent communication skills with a customer‑focused approach
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times

Desirable qualifications include experience in a high‑growth or technology environment, familiarity with payroll and HR systems, and exposure to multi‑country payroll operations.


Responsibilities

UK Payroll
* Coordinating monthly payroll changes and preparing input data for the payroll provider
* Reviewing payroll outputs, resolving discrepancies, and preparing payroll for review by the Head of Finance
* Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and delivered on schedule each month
Pensions & Benefits
* Managing pension contributions, uploads, reconciliations, and starter/leaver reporting
* Administering payroll‑linked benefits such as Cycle to Work and Give As You Earn schemes
* Setting up, amending, and stopping deductions in line with provider data and HR requirements
* Collaborating with pension and benefits providers as needed
Compliance & Reporting
* Ensuring adherence to UK payroll legislation and HMRC regulations
* Reconciling RTI filings and supporting year‑end processes including P60s and PSA reportingPreparing payroll journal files for finance reconciliation
* Maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting audit processes
Employee & People Team Support
* Acting as the first point of contact for UK payroll inquiries
* Partnering with the People team to ensure accurate employee data and smooth payroll processes
* Explaining payslips, statutory payments, deductions, pensions, and benefits clearly to employees
Operational Ownership
* Providing operational support during the maternity cover period
* Maintaining payroll documentation and control procedures
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance employee experience and efficiency
