Overview
Join to apply for the Engineering lead role at Barclays. The role focuses on working with OneHub, consolidating a number of applications. You will be leading one of three engineering squads, made up of approximately nine team members including Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Engineers and Automation Testers. This role emphasizes mentoring and coaching of engineers as well as hands on engineering projects.
Responsibilities
* Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
* Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
* Mentor and support team members\' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Evaluate and enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
* Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
* Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high‑quality solutions.
Qualifications
* Frontend/UI engineering with React and TypeScript.
* Proven background in web development.
* Leadership skills including mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
* Experience in financial services or large enterprise environments.
* Ability to work effectively within distributed teams.
Highly valued skills
* Proficiency in JavaScript.
* Experience with React-Query and Highcharts.
* Knowledge of Java and AWS is advantageous.
* Experience in embracing continuous improvement and in enhancing large-scale processes.
Location
This role will be based out of our London office.
