Your new companyA leading Tier 1 civil engineering delivery organisation operating within the highways and infrastructure sector. The company works closely with local authorities and key stakeholders to deliver major highway improvement and maintenance schemes across the region, with a strong focus on safety, quality and collaborative working.
Your new roleAs a Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the on-site operational management of a major highway and civil engineering scheme, supporting the Project Manager to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Managing day-to-day construction operations on site
* Supporting the Project Manager with operational planning and delivery
* Ensuring SHEQ standards and safe systems of work are maintained at all times
* Interpreting design information and implementing works in line with specifications
* Managing and directing sub agents, subcontractors, labour and plant
* Developing construction programmes, phasing plans and method statements
* Ensuring activity plans, permits and method statements are in place prior to works commencing
* Liaising with stakeholders and acting as a key point of contact for site‑related queries
* Working closely with the commercial team on cost reporting and compensation events
* Coordinating procurement of materials and efficient use of resources
* Maintaining accurate site records, including diaries, quality documentation and as‑built information
What you'll need to succeed
* A Civil Engineering qualification or equivalent
* Valid CSCS card
* SMSTS certification
* Full UK or EEC driving licence
* Proven experience managing civil engineering or highways works on site
* Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance within construction
* Ability to manage programmes, resources and subcontractors effectively
