Job Description
Head of HR – Commercial, Multi-Business | UK & Europe, M4 corridor base
This is a role for an HR leader who understands how people decisions drive commercial results.
We’re working with a commercially driven organisation to appoint a Head of HR for a complex, multi-business division operating across the UK and Europe. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role carries genuine influence and visibility, with responsibility for shaping and delivering a people agenda that supports growth, performance and culture across a £80m operation.
The brief is straightforward but it does require someone who can unify diverse businesses around a shared people agenda and build a people strategy that aligns with commercial priorities. That means working closely with senior leaders, coaching and challenging where needed, using insight and data to inform decisions, and ensuring that the colleague experience improves in meaningful ways. You’ll set direction, but you’ll also stay close enough to the detail to understand what’s really happening on the ground.
The environment is varied. Multiple businesses, different leadership teams, and an international footprint mean this role suits someone who is comfortable navigating complexity and adapting their style without losing clarity or pace. You’ll lead HR teams through influence rather than hierarchy, embed group initiatives locally, and ensure strong foundations across talent, performance, reward, engagement and employee relations.
This opportunity will resonate with someone already operating at Head of HR level in a commercial or operational setting. You’re likely known for your commercial acumen, your ability to influence senior stakeholders, and your instinct for balancing culture with performance. You enjoy autonomy, are comfortable with change, and don’t need a script to know when to coach and when to challenge.
International experience is useful, but mindset matters more. Curiosity, confidence and credibility will take you further here than a perfect CV.
If you’re looking for a role with breadth, impact and real leadership responsibility, and you want your work to shape how a business performs and feels, please do apply.
This is offered on a permanent, full-time basis. Travel-wise, you will travel between Southern sites commutable from the M4 corridor 1-2 days per week, in addition to bi-monthly visits to sites in mainland Europe.
