Park Ranger - Capstone Country Park, Norse Medway. £25,858.56 per annum. 37 Hours per week.
Are you interested in wildlife, with enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and love being outdoors? We are looking to recruit a Park Ranger to work at Capstone Farm Country Park.
About The Role
Our Park Rangers have a wide and varied job role, maintaining the public areas within the site through grounds work and repairs and installation of site infrastructure. You will help improve and maintain a variety of habitats; both parks offer a wild variety of habitats and rare species. You will conduct surveys, produce and deliver an annual events programme, and lead educational sessions for local schools both on and off site.
Alongside general park maintenance, you will collaborate with a range of stakeholders, resolve health and safety issues, and enhance our valuable green spaces by engaging the local community.
You will help manage and supervise the activities of contractors on site, and actively promote Medway\'s parks and open spaces in alignment with Norse Group\'s values.
Capstone Country Park covers an area of 114 hectares and contains a mix of young and mature woodland, meadow/grassland and amenity parkland. Capstone Country Park is also a Green Flag Award accredited.
What are we looking for from you?
You will be expected to bring a combination of knowledge, experience and skill to the role, highlighted by:
* A professional qualification in countryside management (or similar subject), or demonstrable relevant experience
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and health & safety guidelines, including environmental management
* Experience leading, managing and supervising activities, events, educational sessions and working with volunteer groups
* Excellent communication skills, comfortable and confident when dealing with members of the public
* Good IT skills
* Able to work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team
* Experience in working with landscaping power tools and chainsaw experience; licence is an advantage
* Able to use own initiative and work as part of a team
* A full manual driving licence
