Witherby Publishing Group is a specialist publisher of marine training, reference and regulatory material for the shipping industry.
This is a full time role for a period of 12 months and is an outstanding opportunity to support our GIS team in ensuring that our maritime information products are produced and maintained with accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
* Assisting the GIS Team in their day-to-day duties preparing maps for publication
* Basic cartography and creation of maps and navigational diagrams for use in commercial maritime publications and websites
* General GIS data maintenance, including data capture, creation of metadata and development of databases
* Data quality control
* Provide advice and support to other projects as required, and occasional support to remote access users
* Assisting with the management of the Maritime server and ESRI Enterprise Portal, including updating licensed ENCs (Electronic Navigational Charts) and published Web Mapping Services.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
* 1-2 years of experience using GIS software (Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or other equivalent software) in an academic or professional capacity
* An interest in learning SQL and / or Python
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines efficiently
* A passion for anything maritime or nautical
* Existing navigational knowledge is desirable.

* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong communication skills
* Collaborative working with the GIS team and other staff members across the business
* To be dynamic and energetic in your approach.
Salary and Conditions:
* Salary is £24,570 annum
* This is an office-based role
* Normal place of work is Livingston, West Lothian
* You will report to the Head of Navigation
