This is a rewarding opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening home–school relationships and supporting the wellbeing and success of children with complex and severe learning difficulties. About the Role As Family Engagement Officer, you will work closely with parents and carers, building trusted relationships that empower families to engage fully with their child’s education. You will provide guidance and advocacy around EHCPs and support plans, promote attendance and positive engagement, and connect families with the right services at the right time. This is a highly collaborative role, working alongside therapists, safeguarding staff, and other professionals to ensure every child and family is supported holistically. You will also create inclusive opportunities for parent voice through forums, workshops, and informal support sessions, helping families feel connected and valued. Key Responsibilities Develop strong, respectful, and supportive relationships with families. Provide advice and guidance around EHCPs, support plans, and wider systems. Promote attendance and address persistent absence with understanding and empathy. Work effectively as part of a multi-agency team. Facilitate parent forums, workshops, and drop-in opportunities. Champion inclusive communication and ensure parent voices are heard. The Ideal Candidate Will: Have experience supporting families, ideally within an educational or SEND context. Understand the challenges faced by families of children with complex needs. Be an empathetic and confident communicator who builds positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Demonstrate strong knowledge of safeguarding and family support frameworks. Be organised, adaptable, and proactive in a developing role.
