Overview
Choices College (formerly Project Choice) is a supported internship programme that aims to support young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities or autism to become employment ready. The role of a student support worker is to support interns on a one-to-one basis within a workplace setting to enable them to reach their full potential. This is a 0 hour contract; hours are not guaranteed and may fluctuate across the academic year. These posts are suited to applicants who do not require guaranteed full-time hours and who can be flexible on hours and areas worked within a local geographic area. We are currently looking for candidates to support in the Manchester area. Willingness to travel is essential.
Responsibilities
* Attend work placements with students to support and develop learning and the embedding of work-based tasks.
* Maintain weekly detailed individual records for each student to meet inspection requirements.
* Provide 121 support in a classroom or work-based environment as part of a student-centred approach.
* Support mentors to support students.
* Interpret sensitive information and support very anxious students to learn to work.
* Assist in the development of bespoke learning.
* Report and communicate information effectively and efficiently to the area manager and mentor.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A passion for supporting students with SEN to meet their full potential is essential.
* Willingness to travel and flexibility regarding hours and locations within the local area.
