Female Personal Care Assistant
Bolton, Greater Manchester
REF: JM0220
My daughter is in her early twenties with severe learning and physical difficulties. She mobilises using a wheelchair, and is unable to stand unaided, so moving and handling experience is useful but training will be given. My daughter needs assistance with all her personal care, feeding and medication administration. She also has epilepsy, which is unmanaged, her seizures vary day to day, however they don’t always restrict her daily activities.
My daughter’s movements can be unpredictable; she can also be loud, which cause people to stare at her.
My daughter is non-vocal, but can make her needs understood, once you get to know her, she prefers to lie around in bed which can cause her problems so it is essential that she is encouraged to get up and move around.
My daughter enjoys music, swimming, going for walks, animals, having her nails done, feet massaged, she enjoys shopping, and people watching and has a wicked sense of humour so don’t fall near her!
We are looking for someone who will think ‘outside the box’ as to activities she may enjoy and be willing to accompany her with activities; they must be adaptable, responsible, flexible and be available to cover in emergencies.
My daughter is a very loving young woman, and quickly develops a bond with those who work with her; therefore, willingness to work with her long term is very important to both her and our family.
