Security Architect – Cloud / DevSecOps Location: Hybrid – 2–3 days every fortnight on-site in Newcastle Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for UK Security Clearance Rate: £400–£550 per day (Inside IR35) About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Security Architect with strong Cloud and DevSecOps expertise to join our team. In this high-impact role, you will lead the definition and implementation of the cloud security framework and architecture, ensuring solutions meet business needs, compliance requirements, and performance goals. You’ll act as a subject matter expert, guiding technical teams, influencing architectural decisions, and embedding secure-by-design principles across the full delivery lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Define and maintain the cloud security architecture and framework, aligned with organisational strategy and governance. Document and oversee the implementation of cloud security controls, ensuring smooth transition to managed operations. Provide technical leadership across multiple project teams, setting best practice and architectural standards. Design and deliver innovative cloud security solutions that align with enterprise cloud strategy. Conduct regular security assessments to ensure compliance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement. Lead training and awareness sessions to develop team capability in cloud security and DevSecOps best practices. Collaborate with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams to integrate security throughout the SDLC. Stay current with emerging cloud security trends, tools, and technologies to continuously enhance security posture. Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Security Architect in complex, large-scale cloud environments. Expert-level proficiency in DevOps principles and practices. Strong understanding of Cloud Infrastructure Security and Cloud Security Architecture. Hands-on experience with Git (advanced) and GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Experience designing and operating Managed Cloud Security Services. Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
