About the Southern Region Yard Operative Support Role
As a Southern Region Yard Operative Support, you will help ensure smooth day-to-day operations within our busy yards across the region. You will play a key part in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment, providing exceptional service to both external and internal customers, and supporting the branch team in all aspects of materials handling, stock movement, and branch logistics.
Southern Region Yard Operative Support - Location and Working Hours...
This is a full-time, permanent position. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, between 07:30 to 17:00.
Base branch will be Crawley - Telford Pl, Crawley RH10 1SY.
Support will be required where necessary across the region at the following branches -
Chichester, Coulsdon, Guildford, Havant, Redhill, Henfield, Lewes, New Malden, Rudgwick, Salfords and Worthing.
A company Van will be provided for travel to the required branches.
Salary and Benefits for Yard Operative Support – Crawley
Salary range £36,000 - £39,000, dependent on experience

Main Responsibilities – Southern Region Yard Operative Support
Unload and safely store goods delivered to the branch, ensuring correct stock rotation and accurate record-keeping
Assist with receiving, checking, and preparing customer orders for collection and delivery
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the yard, warehouse, and loading/unloading areas
Ensure all Health & Safety and company policies are consistently followed, including the proper use of PPE
Safely operate forklifts and mechanical handling equipment as required (training provided if not already licensed)
Provide excellent customer service to suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all times
Carry out regular stock counts and assist with inventory management as directed by branch management
Support other yard and branch activities as necessary, demonstrating flexibility and a team-centric approach
Key Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, builders’ merchant, or similar environment is essential.
FLT licence is essential.
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physically fit, able to undertake manual handling tasks, and work effectively in an outdoor environment
Proactive attitude to work, with a commitment to excellent customer service and safety
Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours, including occasional overtime as required
A positive, solution-focused mindset and willingness to learn new skills
