Our client is a leader in the field of developing statistical models and analytical frameworks for sports, predominantly football. Their models are utilised by media, sports clubs, bookmakers, traders and syndicates, to make data driven decisions based on advanced analyses
The role
As a Data Scientist, you will be working on the betting, trading and prediction side of the business, improving the companies ability to predict match outcomes. This role involves working with other data scientists, software engineers and sports experts to research ways in which the modelling approaches can be improved, and then turning those insights into practical modelling solutions that can deploy to production.
About you
* Strong Python experience, including DS libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Seaborne/MatPlotLib etc
* Experience working with large datasets in SQL and RDBMSs, and ability to identify and fix data quality issues & perform initial exploratory data analysis
* Interest in sports and betting/prediction/probability problems
* Experience with statistical analysis and predictive modelling - you don’t need to be an expert in any one area, but you need to know what techniques and tools are available, and understand the trade-offs of using different approaches
