Application Engineer – Hyster-Yale Materials Handling
Location: Craigavon, Northern Ireland (alternative sites in Irvine, Scotland or Masate, Italy)
Job Summary
We are a global leader dedicated to advancing the materials handling industry, designing, engineering, manufacturing and servicing lift trucks and related solutions under the Hyster® and Yale® brands. The successful candidate will understand customer needs and define the right solution, guiding the trade‐off of value, performance and cost to win new business in collaboration with Product Management, Marketing and Sales.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to new sales technical support requests via Contact Management or NOVO CPQ, maintaining KPI compliance and request status.
* Provide timely and accurate special quotations and technical support to internal sales teams and dealer partners for RFQ’s and tender requests.
* Manage pricing and availability of special “SPED” sales options, ensuring profitability while remaining competitive.
* Define the appropriate truck for the application through on‑site customer visits, assessments and evaluation of special options.
* Guide sales staff to specify and sell the suitable truck for each customer application.
* Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
* Identify changes to reduce special option cost and increase profitability.
* Calculate truck capacity and advise on correct size/model for each application.
* Support marketing and promotion of special “SPED” solutions to increase HYMH product sales.
* Recommend future standard product improvements and innovations to the Product Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related discipline (HND level acceptable with relevant experience).
* Minimum 5 years of experience (Application Engineer IV); candidates with less are considered for an adjusted seniority level.
* Excellent communication, customer service and customer management skills.
* Fluency in English required; additional European language a plus.
* Awareness of international cultural differences and experience working in an international business environment.
* Microsoft Office skills – spreadsheets, reports, data analysis and recommendation making.
* Commercial awareness and financial knowledge or experience in sales and engineering roles.
* Some business travel required.
