Overview
We are seeking a software engineer who is highly organised with experience in developing or maintaining R packages, and an interest in contributing to an international, open‑source software community to coordinate and support DataSHIELD development projects.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with colleagues from the University of Liverpool, the NHS, public sector partners, research organisations, suppliers, SMEs, and industry.
* Provide technical expertise and develop innovative solutions, including R packages.
* Contribute to training programmes.
* Work closely with the Healthy Urban Places Consortium to ensure solutions are appropriate for applied health research.
* Promote openness and transparency in health innovation to foster collaboration and trust across the research community.
Qualifications
* Degree in computer science (or a degree with a strong computational component, e.g., mathematics, physics, biomedical engineering).

The post is available until 30th September 2027.
The university operates a hybrid work environment for staff, with a current minimum requirement of 40% on campus, with 60% considered desirable where possible.
