Job Overview
As a laboratory support worker in Blood Sciences, the post holder works under the supervision of qualified scientists for delegated tasks required for the delivery of a fit‑for‑purpose 24/7 medical laboratory service analysing and reporting on blood, urine, faeces and other body materials to achieve efficient and effective patient care and effective resource management within the hospital.
Main duties of the job
As part of our ongoing service, the Blood Sciences Department in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is looking to appoint a full‑time band 3 Medical Laboratory Assistant. This role complements the expertise of other experienced scientists and science assistants, and will be part of a fast‑paced laboratory diagnostics service. The successful candidate will need a basic knowledge of laboratory services and be able to learn and develop with a drive to deliver an excellent service for the benefit of the community we serve. With strong teamwork skills, the candidate will demonstrate the values important to us, communicate well, work supportively with colleagues, focus on delivering a quality service, and treat others with respect and dignity. Accountability and shared responsibility are valued, and peer support will be provided. The role is part of a close‑knit, sociable team with full support and training to further skills. Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome.
