Pharmacist Manager – Derwent Valley Pharmacy

Salary: £58,240 – £67,000 (dependent on experience)

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive, patient-focused Pharmacist who is motivated to make a real difference in the local community. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and inspiring team leader with strong clinical knowledge and excellent customer service skills.
You will be the responsible Pharmacist providing single cover, supported by an experienced team of dispensers, medicines counter assistants, and delivery drivers. Under your leadership, we aim to drive growth in both dispensing and service provision.
Key Responsibilities
* Clinically and accuracy check prescriptions prepared by the dispensary team.
* Support staff to follow SOPs and maintain good dispensing practice.
* Deliver NHS services, including:
* Pharmacy First – managing minor ailments and referring when necessary.
* Oral Contraception Service – initiating and continuing contraception.
* New Medicine Service (NMS) – supporting patients with new long-term treatments.
* Blood Pressure Checks – identifying and referring patients with hypertension.
* Carry out seasonal Flu and Covid vaccinations.
* Provide clinical advice and support to patients on prescription and OTC medicines.
* Promote healthy lifestyles through signposting and education.
* Supervise, motivate, and train staff to achieve excellent standards.
* Maintain accurate records in line with data protection requirements.
* Ensure compliance with GPhC standards, NHS contractual obligations, and company policies.
* Build positive relationships with local GPs, healthcare professionals, and commissioners.
* Contribute to a safe, efficient, and well-organised pharmacy environment.
Essential Requirements
* MPharm (or equivalent) and GPhC registration.
* Eligible to deliver NHS services under the CPCF.
* Strong clinical knowledge and patient-centred approach.
* Excellent communication and counselling skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider healthcare team.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable:
* Experience delivering advanced and locally commissioned services.
* Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification (preferred, not essential).
* Familiarity with PMR systems (e.g., PharmOutcomes).
Working Hours
* Pharmacy opening hours:
* Mon–Fri: 8:30am – 9:30pm
* Sat: 9:00am – 9:00pm
* Sun: 10:00am – 9:00pm
* Contracted hours: 40 hours per week (including 1 in 4 Saturdays).
