Introduction to the Team
The Expedia Product & Technology team is dedicated to building innovative products, services, and tools that deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. Our singular technology platform, powered by data and machine learning, provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and customer satisfaction.
As part of the Expedia Group Offers pillar, you will help create a simple, clear, and transparent pricing experience for our customers throughout their shopping and booking journeys.
Your Role
In this position, you will:
* Conduct day-to-day work and solve complex issues in your technical engineering area.
* Share domain and industry knowledge across cross-functional teams.
* Guide junior engineers and report on the status of high-level projects to local tech leadership.
* Partner with the business to understand how your technology stack impacts business outcomes.
* Advise on technical limitations and provide alternative solutions.
* Test and maintain software applications using various development tools.
* Take responsibility for the health of the codebase, ensuring quality, scalability, and performance.
* Analyze issues and implement holistic solutions across structure, people, process, and technology.
Who You Are
You bring:
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
* 8+ years of software development experience (Java or Kotlin preferred), focusing on backend development.
* Experience mentoring at least 3 individuals.
* The ability to identify business problems and design easily testable solutions.
* A strong understanding of complex systems and the ability to guide integrations across teams.
* Knowledge of testing and monitoring tools to advocate for project quality.
On-Call Requirement
This position requires being on-call outside of regular working hours, which includes:
* Responding to emergencies or incidents as they arise.
* Providing prompt support and solutions.
* Participating in on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
* Remaining reachable during on-call periods.
