We are looking for up to 4 sessions per week and the post would be salaried for a fixed term until 31.3.2027 until we have more information from NHSE. The post is available through funding from NHSE which we can draw down from.
The GP would work alongside all of the other GPs completing face to face and or telephone appointments sharing labs, scripts and admin time. Home visits are rarely completed by salaried or GP partners. We limit contacts to 25 per day.
We achieve good QoF areas and have a healthy team of students ranging from nursing, pharmacist and year 1 to 5 medical students. We have 2 F2s and 2 GPRs so there is ample opportunity to teach.
Salary will be negotiable but is positive.

About us The practice has great team working in an NHS purpose built building in Wrekenton Gateshead. We have 12 GPs, 3 nurses, 4 HCAs, Admin support, ARRS pharmacists, Physios, Paramedics, Mental Health Practitioners, Counsellors and social prescribers.
Our patients are mostly in a deprived area with co-morbidities and our list size is 12,300 with a weighted list size of just over 14,000.
We are part of Gateshead Central South PCN and we work very well as a PCN.

We follow the model BMA contract for salaried GPs and we also give staff their birthday day off in addition to leave and bank holiday allowances.
There is always refreshments available e.g. tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juices, biscuits and cakes.
Job responsibilities The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
d. Effective management of long-term conditions
e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
h. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
m. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
o. Prepare and complete the revalidation process
p. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
q. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
r. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
s. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
t. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
Secondary responsibilities In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:
a. Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)
