Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor - Cork, Ireland

Our client is an established engineering services contractor involved in complex technical projects across Europe primarily involved in life sciences, pharmaceutical and data centres who is actively seeking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be working in Cork. Our client’s core division includes Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Sprinkler and Fire Protection. As a Senior Quantity surveyor you will be involved in every stage of the project from calculating costs, looking after the client needs and monitoring the project’s progress.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

Manage cost control and identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of same to management.

Conduct cost analysis and value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.
*
Monitor and track project costs, including variations, change orders, and progress payments both upstream and downstream.
*
Manage the preparation and evaluation of subcontract packages, contributing to interim and final valuations.
*
Assist the Senior Contract Surveyor in coaching and motivating surveyors on the project.
*
Collaborate closely with the estimation team to review and validate Mechanical cost estimates for each project.
*
Collaborate with the estimation / BIM team to ensure accurate quantity take-offs and bills of quantities for Mechanical systems and installations in each project.

Review mechanical drawings and specification revisions to ensure any changes are identified.
*
Conduct site visits and inspections to assess work progress, validate quantities, and address any discrepancies.
*
Evaluate subcontractor's claims and prepare reports on quantities, rates, and payment applications.
*
Administer the contract for each project in collaboration with the project team, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
*
Review and analyse contractual agreements, identifying key contractual obligations, milestones, and deliverables.
*
Manage the contractual correspondence, including change orders, claims, and dispute resolution, in coordination with the project team.
*
Collaborate with the legal / compliance team to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
*
Maintain and implement systems for tracking labour resources and performance on Mechanical works for each project.
*
Monitor labour productivity, efficiency, and performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
*
Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to gather labour-related data and analyse productivity trends.
*
Prepare reports on labour S/E, productivity, and performance indicators for each project individually.
*
Generate regular cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for Mechanical works.
*
Maintain accurate records of all Mechanical cost-related documents, contracts, and correspondence.
*
Prepare and present cost reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
*
Assist in the preparation of final accounts and settlement of claims.
*
Relevant third level qualification essential in Quantity Surveying/ Construction Economics or related field.
*
Experience as a Mechanical QS on large-scale construction projects.
*
Experience in Mechanical cost control, estimation, and quantity surveying techniques.
*
Proficiency in using relevant QS software and tools.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
*
Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards related to Mechanical works.
