Clinical specialist OT – Operational Lead
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled clinician to join the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team. You will have experience working with paediatric cases, managing a specialist caseload as an autonomous practitioner and providing clinical support and advice to junior staff. The role involves providing individualised assessment and treatment for patients from across the county, as well as some from out of the county on both the paediatric ward and individual outpatient appointments – providing treatment either virtually or face‑to‑face, and as part of a team including Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. The Paediatric Occupational Therapy team has clearly defined acute and specialist roles and benefits from close working with consultants and specialist nursing teams. You will be required to complete the day‑to‑day operational management of the Paediatric team as defined in the Operational Lead appendix.
NICU – OT
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled clinician to join the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You will be responsible for providing specialist assessment and Occupational Therapy management to support the neurodevelopment of preterm infants and work effectively with the NICU MDT to highlight the role OT has on this specialist level 3 unit.
Responsibilities
* Day‑to‑day operational management of the paediatric OT team, reporting to AHP Therapy Leads
* Upper limb/neuro clinic
* In‑patient and out‑patient paediatric caseload
* Be responsible for training and developing more junior staff
NICU Post Responsibilities
* Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients, using investigative and analytical skills, to form accurate diagnosis and prognosis in a wide range of highly complex conditions.
* Work with families and infants to address their occupational needs in the NICU, providing intervention to support preterm babies’ neurodevelopment and appropriate Occupational Therapy input to infants with diagnoses affecting their development.
* Develop and implement strategies with the MDT which will improve the experience of all babies and families on the unit.
* Formulate individualised treatment plans and specialised programmes of care using clinical reasoning and a range of treatment skills. This usually involves liaison with a wide range of professionals across the health and social services. Due to the complexity and nature of the patients’ conditions, care management is often longer term and thus requires frequent re‑assessment.
