About Saltash Community School

Saltash Community School

Wearde Road, Saltash

Cornwall

PL12 4AY

United Kingdom

OVERVIEW

The school is a mixed 11 to 18 comprehensive school established in its present form in 1968. The school converted to Academy Status in April 2011, and became part of a Multi Academy Trust (SMART) with one of its partner primaries, Landulph, in January 2014. The SMART family expanded in 2016 to include Liskeard and Looe Secondaries along with Dobwalls and Trewidland Primaries. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it occupies a 13 acre site overlooking Plymouth Sound and the Tamar, Tavy and Lynher rivers.

We serve our partner primary schools in the town, the rural primary schools at Landulph and St Germans as well as an increasing number of students from Plymouth and further afield in Cornwall.

We are proud of our livestock area containing pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens and goats along with several allotments which enhance provision in many curriculum areas.

Our extensive sports fields, including a superb floodlit all-weather pitch, are amongst the best in the county, enabling us to offer a wide range of different sports to our students and local community.

VALUES AND ETHOS

Our Trust is committed to developing SMART Learners, SMART Leaders and SMART Communities. This means that everyone's voice is heard and we commit to support every person in our Trust on their own personal learning journey.

At Saltash Community School, our mission statement is 'Achieving More Together': we are committed to working together with all our community to enable everyone to overcome their barriers and to thrive as active citizens; developing the skills, knowledge and cultural capital they need to achieve their aspirations: students and staff alike.

Our TEAM Core Values of Tenacity, Empathy, Aspiration and Motivation underpin all we do. If you share these values and are committed to inclusive comprehensive education with wellbeing at its heart, then we would love to hear from you.
