Estates Supervisor – Estates & Facilities Post: Estates Supervisor [Electrical Bias]
A permanent vacancy has arisen within the Estates & Facilities Directorate for an experienced and motivated Estates Supervisor to join Barts Health NHS Trust. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong electrical background who are looking to advance their careers within a highly specialised and supportive hospital environment.
Working within the St Bartholomew’s Estate, you will oversee daily estate operations, ensuring that the hospital’s infrastructure supports the world-class care provided throughout the site.
Your responsibilities shall include:
1. Leading and supervising a multidisciplinary estates team to ensure high standards of maintenance and repair.
2. Supervising the compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including Fire Safety and Water Hygiene.
· Ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with relevant regulations and Health & Safety guidance.
3. Fostering a culture of excellence, providing the training and support your team needs to succeed.
· Support minor installation works across the retained estate.
· Supervision of testing, inspection and statutory compliance activities (e.g., pressure systems, water hygiene tasks).

Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. Good Literacy & numeracy skills.
8. To have served a recognised apprenticeship and educated to HNC/HND level in a building service, mechanical or electrical engineering discipline or have equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
9. Specialist training in medical gases, water systems, legionella/pseudomonas control, gas safety, refrigeration systems, BMS, Air Conditioning & Electrical Safety.
Experience
Essential criteria
10. Knowledge of information systems for the management of maintenance activity (Concept CAFM System).
Desirable criteria
11. In depth experience of healthcare building services, maintenance management of multi skilled teams across multiple sites.
12. Experience of allocating planned and reactive work to the in-house team and contractors. Proven ability to performance manages both work streams.
13. Understanding Standing Financial Instructions in relation to procurement, management, and commissioning of external contracting services
Knowledge
Essential criteria
14. Detailed working knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance.
Desirable criteria
15. An evidenced knowledge of statutory compliance to all relevant Estates and Engineering systems and building elements

16. Computer literate. Ability to maximise the use of allocated resources in the achievement of set objectives.
17. Ability to lead and motivate Estates team. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Able to work on own initiative and within a team.
