Overview
Community Dermatology Lambeth (CDL) seeks a fixed‑term 12‑month Associate Specialty in Dermatology. The role supports community and paediatric dermatology services at St Thomas’ Hospital and West Norwood Leisure Centre. The post holder works under the Lambeth Community Clinic Lead and will supervise clinic operations when the lead is away.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dermatology consultations and carry out procedures such as dermoscopy, cryotherapy, injections and surgical interventions.
* Arrange investigations, offer management plans for general practice implementation or arrange follow‑up (face‑to‑face or telephone) and refer to secondary care as needed.
* Maintain accurate records of consultations, investigations, prescribing and procedures using the clinical system and its templates or a separate database for biopsies.
* Review results promptly, communicate outcomes to patients or carers and to referring clinicians, and complete computerised outcome letters.
* Prescribe in line with local dermatology formularies (South East London APC/JMF) and comply with the SE London Treatment Access Policy.
* Practice within national 2WW, NICE, IOG, BAD, PCDS and local guidelines; practise within competence, acknowledge limits and seek advice from consultant colleagues.
* Complete activity documentation to track KPIs, mandatory training and relevant regulations, and record data in a GDPR‑compliant manner.
* Report needle‑stick or other injuries and significant or near‑miss events promptly.
Qualifications and Experience
* Full UK GMC registration and licence to practice.
* UK dermatology certification completion or equivalent overseas qualification.
* Experience managing adult and paediatric skin disease in community or secondary care settings.
* Experience with severe eczema and biologics in a paediatric setting.
* Strong communication, leadership, decision‑making, reflective practice and evidence‑based medicine skills.
