Job Description
As a result of our continued success and growth in the UK, we’re looking for full‑time Structural Engineers to join our team working on Nuclear New Build projects, specifically focusing on Nuclear Island buildings of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and similar projects. You will reinforce your technical skills while working on the most complex buildings of a Nuclear Power Plant, cultivating strong working relationships in a multi‑culture environment to deliver outstanding results for our clients.
As a Structural Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, integrity and reliability of the nuclear power plant structures. You will be responsible for various aspects of the design and structural analysis of reinforced concrete or steel structures.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and analyse reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants.
* Perform structural calculations and finite element modelling using ANSYS APDL or similar advanced software, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards such as Eurocode and ETT‑C.
* Ensure the structural integrity and resilience of the reinforced concrete structures under seismic, dynamic, impact and environmental loads.
* Collaborate with the detailing team, including drafting, BIM coordination and other design engineers, and the technical direction team to ensure coordination and integration of design requirements.
* Conduct calculations and structural assessments of design changes to determine the impact on reinforced concrete structures and propose necessary design modifications.
* Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications and construction documentation for reinforced concrete structures.
* Conduct structural assessments and evaluations during construction and provide technical support as needed.
* Work closely with construction contractors and site teams to resolve any structural issues during the construction phase.
* Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and draftsmen in the structural design and detailing process.
* Collaborate with the client, construction team, principal designer and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations and requirements.
Qualifications
With a background in the nuclear industry or another heavily regulated sector, you should have an established career in Civil Structural Engineering, ideally holding a Master’s degree or equivalent.
* Must have the right of work for the UK.
* Experience in structural civil work, civil design, RC detailing, steel structures with ETT‑C or Eurocodes or other relevant codes.
* Proven experience designing and analysing reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants, specifically with European Pressurized Reactors (EPR).
* Sound knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations and standards governing the design and construction of nuclear power plant structures.
* Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ANSYS, SAP2000 or similar tools.
* Familiarity with finite element software such as ANSYS APDL, Robot or similar tools.
* Strong understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for nuclear structures.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
