Job Description: Role Summary The CBI (Customer Back Innovation) Specialist plays a pivotal role in advancing the Offsite Cullen Connectors product portfolio, driving growth, consistently outperforming market trends. Your responsibilities will include supporting and leading strategic initiatives across the Cullen connectors segment, with a focus on the development of market opportunity research strategies that feed the product pipeline screening process. You will also be responsible for steering new product development projects through the discovery phase, from identifying customer pain points to creating clear, quantifiable value proposition statements. A key part of the role involves building strong relationships with new and existing customers, this includes housebuilders, architects, fabricators, and end users as well as actively participating with industry associations. The insights gained from these engagements will be instrumental in shaping strategic direction and driving competitive advantage. You will support creating and implementing business cases for products, market extensions or new services, following in-depth analysis from on-site and end user research. Reporting to the Cullen Connectors Owner, success will be measured on the ability to 80/20 tasks, manage time and deliver tangible results. Responsibilities CBI Strategy: Support Connectors growth initiatives projects for growth levers 1, 2 & 3. Contributing to 3% annual CBI (lever 3) yield targets. Using our business unit segmentation, manage research by using customer-back insights to gauge qualitative feedback to proactively drive growth for all product ranges. Prioritise growth opportunities in line with Cullen Connectors CBI Strategic Intent focusing on CBI Growth Opportunities, Defending the 80’s and New Technology Opportunities. Identify emerging markets and business opportunities around product/service offerings and opportunities. Strategically position the business to “Do More with Less” through PLS. CBI Pipeline: Develop comprehensive research plans for opportunity projects in collaboration with product managers. Gather market intelligence to qualify opportunities and support Offsites pipeline screening process. Focusing on addressable market, current share, market attractiveness, resources, speed to market, ITW manufacturing and engineering capabilities, competitive intensity, barriers to entry, market growth, IP opportunities and incremental revenue opportunities. CBI Process: Establish strong partnerships with customers through discovery initiatives: Conduct in-depth pain point analyses with customers. Facilitate system discovery sessions and process mapping exercises. Collect market intelligence from design offices through to on-site installers. Customer Surveys & External Market Research Gather insights on customer workarounds, alternative solutions, and key challenges. Analyse competitor solutions where available. Work closely with customers to assess impact levels to drive meaningful change. Organise round table discussions with 80 customers and key market influencers (e.g., NHBC, LABC, housebuilders). Value Proposition Development: Define value propositions for the customer and/or house builder. Utilise qualitative and quantitative data to capture pain points, needs, workarounds, and overall impact. Ownership of the translation of market intelligence and customer/house builder insights into business cases for adjacent or new opportunities within the Cullen Connectors segment. To understand, develop and communicate our system value propositions, to both internal and external stakeholders. Engagement with IP Counsel with product managers. Support the launch of new products externally, collaborating with the Marketing, Commercial and Product teams to create successful product launches. Experience and skills: Focus on for safety as the number one priority, always ensuring a safe working environment (internal & external) and a cultural understanding of continuous improvement for health & safety. Ability to conduct structured and unstructured discovery interviews Keen observational skills to spot user behaviours, workflows, and pain points Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proactive approach Able to engage with a range of stakeholders at varying level of seniority Ability to connect on-site findings to broader market trends Strong analytical skills for collecting qualitative and quantitative data Comfortable working in unpredictable environments (construction sites, factories, etc.) Self-motivated individual who is flexible and willing to learn continuous best practices with a positive mentality. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work within a team environment.
