The Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust is looking for a skilled Digital Communications Specialist to lead on the development of our digital communications offer. Our online presence is vital to drive engagement with our staff, volunteers, stakeholders and the diverse population that we serve.
The post-holder will take the lead on digital campaigns and outcomes, supporting the Head of Communications and working closely with colleagues across the organisation in the development and delivery of digital communications strategies and action plans which support the achievement of our ambitious Integrated Medium Term Plan and long-term strategy objectives.
You will be working alongside the wider communications team, supporting with the development of digital content, ensuring the team are up to speed with best practice and supporting the development and evolution of our digital communication channels at a key time for the organisation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a key member of the Trust’s Communications Team, with a broad portfolio that will encompass digital, internal, external and change communications, acting as a lead specialist for digital communications.
The post-holder will particularly take the lead on digital campaigns and outcomes, supporting the Head of Communications and working closely with colleagues across the organisation in the development and delivery of digital communications strategies.
This post is secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

In line with the Trust’s Starting Salary Procedure, all applicants will start at the bottom of the band for the position applied for, but can apply for a higher salary if they have previous experience relevant to the position.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
 * Educated to Degree Level in a professionally related subject (e.g. Communications, Public Relations, Journalism) with additional specialist knowledge of digital communications techniques to Post Graduate Level; or equivalent level of practical experience within a Communications environment
Desirable criteria
 * Knowledge of public sector organisations and the external political environment
 * CIPR CIM qualified/membership or NCTJ qualified
 * Welsh speaking or committed to improving basic Welsh language skills
Experience
Essential criteria
 * Experience of working on the development and subsequent implementation of internal communication solutions.
 * Experience of developing and delivering effective internal communication plans
 * Experience of providing internal communications advice to senior leaders
 * Experience of developing content and design/navigation of digital platforms
Desirable criteria
 * Experience in a role in the NHS in Wales and knowledge of the challenges it faces
 * Experience of working in a large and complex organisation with a multiplicity of stakeholders

Essential criteria
 * Ability to travel within Wales.
