Offer description

Further Information Do you have the experience and motivation to really make a difference in our local communities?

Look no further! We are delighted to be seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Community Engagement Team on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave.

It’s an exciting time to join the Council and play a critical role in our Powering our Future Programme. You will be supporting our communities’ mission, seeking creative and engaging ways to make sure the voices of our residents, businesses and partner organisations are heard throughout all areas of the council.

This is a meaningful and multifaceted role that offers both challenge and reward. We're looking for someone who brings the right mix of passion, people skills, and initiative to make a real impact in our communities.

To succeed in the role, you will need to be highly adaptable; possess the ability to respond to local community issues, as well as having the organisational skills to initiate, plan and support projects. The role will involve facilitating the continuing development of community groups, identifying appropriate funding streams, engaging the boroughs network of VCSE organisations and assisting communities to identify and mobilise their strengths and assets.

If this sounds like you, and you’re ready for a new and rewarding career step, then please apply today!

It also be noted that due to the nature of the role you will be required to work as required outside of traditional office hours (evenings and some weekends) and travel across the borough.

This is a fixed term contract covering maternity leave. The expected duration of the contract is until October 2026 but will be reviewed periodically with the post holder.

As this is a fixed-term post, secondment opportunities will be considered for internal employees. Please obtain prior approval from your current line manager before completing the application. For further information, please refer to the council’s secondment policy.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

We offer an excellent total reward package, including:
• A career-graded salary of £34,434 - £40,777.
• Flexible Working arrangements – working onsite at our main office in central Stockton overlooking the River Tees, at our other Council buildings as required, and the ability to work some of your time from home.
• 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years’ service. Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
• Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement
• Access to a number of employee benefits including an employee counselling service, Physiotherapy, salary sacrifice Car Lease Scheme and more.
