Key Responsibilities
* Champion clients’ views through clear, persuasive verbal and written representations.
* Work collaboratively with health, social care, public, and voluntary sector organisations to ensure clients’ rights and wishes are fully considered.
* Take client‑directed actions, challenging decisions where necessary and promoting fair, person‑centred outcomes.
* Provide accessible information and guidance, helping clients feel informed and confident in their choices.
Legislation Knowledge
* The Care Act 2014, ensuring individuals understand their rights to assessments, care planning, and advocacy support.The Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its principles, supporting people who may lack capacity and ensuring decisions are made in their best interests.
* The Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended) when working with individuals detained or treated under mental health legislation.
* Relevant safeguarding duties and statutory guidance across health and social care.
What we offer
* Full induction, training and equipment including a laptop and mobile phone.
* Financial sponsorship for the City and Guilds Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice Qualification (IAP). The qualification may be completed within 12 months of registration.
* Flexible working arrangements – full‑time (37 hours per week) and part‑time options available.
* Home based with travel around Gloucester area; applicants must live in the Gloucester area, have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport.

Requirements
* Strong communication and time management skills to successfully work remotely.
* Excellent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and the ability to learn software packages such as client management databases.
* Attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of records and reporting to meet tight deadlines.
* Previous experience in advocacy, information and advice, or a similar role within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
* Demonstrable experience working with vulnerable adults.
* Working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.
