We are recruiting a Neuro Oncology Nurse Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity for an 8b nurse within the corporate cancer directorate to progress to take on the senior nursing clinical and leadership role for the Neuro-Oncology CNS team. In addition to the clinical role, you will lead a team of band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist's and an ANP who specialise in neuro -oncology and also provide senior nursing leadership to the band 6 and 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists within H&N and Thyroid cancer, and the band 4 cancer support worker across both teams.
We are seeking an experienced Neuro Oncology Nurse with excellent clinical, leadership, management and communication skills. You should be enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated to join this busy service. You will have an excellent understanding of patient experience and support and developing staff to deliver high quality care. You will either have completed a relevant Doctor of Philosophy (PHD), or be already working in a trainee nurse consultant role and in the process of completing a relevant Doctor of Philosophy (PHD).
You will have the opportunity to develop your expertise, while also leading a team. You will provide support, education and specialist advice to patients, carers and health professionals. You will need to be a leader, work autonomously as well as being part of a team. You will be expected to provide senior leadership and support across the cancer specialist nursing workforce, and to work closely with the nursing leadership and wider team to improve cancer patient care and experience.
Main duties of the job
1. The Nurse Consultant in Neuro-Oncology is a senior autonomous practitioner and clinical leader, providing strategic and expert-level advanced nursing care for patients with neuro-oncological conditions across the Trust.
2. They will lead and shape the neuro-oncology nursing agenda at local, regional, and national levels, acting as a visible leader, educator, researcher, and influencer across the four pillars of advancing practice: Clinical Practice, Education, Research, and Leadership.
3. The Nurse Consultant has strategic responsibility for service innovation and transformation, embedding evidence-based care, supporting workforce development, and contributing to health policy.
4. They will provide expert consultancy to the multidisciplinary team, including influencing and mentoring senior clinical staff, and acting as a point of expertise for complex case management, guideline development, and system improvement.
5. The postholder is a registered nurse with a PhD/Doctorate or equivalent experience, and advanced clinical practice qualifications. They independently assess, diagnose, manage, and evaluate care for patients, supporting them through complex neuro-oncological pathways.
6. The Nurse consultant will provide clinical leadership, service management and line management to the CNS team/ service.

7. NMC registration and a degree in related subject.
8. Post registration qualification(s) in speciality or relevant subject at level 7
