Job Overview
Position: Police Constable (Surveillance Officer) – Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Transferee Campaign. Type: Permanent, full time. Location: Headquarters, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Department: Intel & Specialist Crime. Payscale: 40.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide the Force with a key investigative resource, targeting high‑profile cases and organized crime groups.
* Blend into the natural environment to gather information and intelligence.
* Work flexible and unpredictable hours as part of a covert, dedicated surveillance team.
* Pass SC Vetting and fulfill all pre‑employment checks.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Qualified Q1 surveillance officer with relevant covert experience.
* Ready to undertake and pass SC Vetting.
* Must complete a job‑related fitness test or provide evidence of current JRFT/PPST ticket.
* When transferring to the force, DNA and fingerprint samples required under PSD Biometric Policy; for high‑risk roles, DNA & fingerprint elimination sample required.
Additional Vetting Information
A Supervisor Appraisal may be necessary in the following situations:
* When applying to transfer to another force
* When renewing existing vetting clearance
* When moving into a role that requires Management Vetting (MV), even if you currently hold MV clearance
* When moving into or working in a role that involves close contact with vulnerable individuals
