Overview
Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) role at Stantec. The role involves leading electrical substation design projects as part of the HV team within Stantec's Energy sector, delivering FEED and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects across the UK. Projects may include HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, overhead lines, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED and connections schemes. You will work with other disciplines and support/lead FEED design and detailed design, with a focus on innovative and sustainable solutions and contributing to the UK energy transition.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, supporting or leading FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment, extensions and new-build projects.
* Collaborate with other disciplines and clients to develop and deliver FEED and detailed design.
* Engage with UK T&D clients and contribute to projects across a wide range of technical disciplines (HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment, connection schemes).
* Develop and deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to industry wide efficiency and environmental challenges.
* Coach and work within the energy team; share knowledge, promote ideas, and value contributions from all team members.
* Be part of a growing energy sector with opportunities for development and career progression within Stantec's UK Energy transition initiatives.
Qualifications
* Degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer.
* Experience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and associated components.
* Understanding of protection and control (P&C) aspects is preferable.
* Proactive, with the ability to coach and work within the wider energy team; good communication; engaged in the engineering community; comfortable promoting innovative solutions and industry best practices.
* Willingness to learn; Stantec supports development and training for the right people; a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
